The Fall Collection
Another game launched, another 6 weeks missing from my yearbook. Here's what we've been up to as a family in the minimal time we've spent together recently (the Adventure Tennis shots didn't turn out so good so I've left them out). Hope you're all well.

Handsome Cassanovas | Orange Distortion
Saw these play this week with Mr Van Basten, himself a one man hen party. One perfectly abused guitar (wasn't tuned once \oo/), one drum machine, some anarchy yoga, vodka from a mug and a great show. Highly entertaining pair of misfits, particularly when drunk. Some of the worst tattoos I've ever seen. We used to bump into them on Davie (Rogers on Davie was their local video store..... Rogers on Davie are not uncommon.). Nice to see them in such good form.
I love the sound I love the sound. (Nerd Spasm) : "Well, I have a couple hot-wired guitar pedals that I kinda just tore apart and put back together again, that just destroy the signal of the guitar, and that harsh programming stuff with the microKorg. Forcing ourselves to use those sounds and trying to control them into something musical. One of the things I used on this record is basically a bit reducer, sampling the guitar coming in and then lowering the bit rate, spitting it back out. It makes these weird overtones and controlled feedback. And I gotta say, Boss pedals. Boss pedals are a touring musician's friend. They never break down. And they're cheap. So if you ever lose your Boss orange distortion, you can go to whatever pawn shop and get another."
Orange Distortion
And so fuckit.... it's turned into a music video post, this is lovely
and so it grows.....
This is just funny.

Ma~
Let's take this back inline. Congratulations to Peadar and Dana on the recent birth of their brand newborn daughter Matilda. What is it about lady babies? All of us have had girls, some of us have had several :)
Get used to ladybird necklaces on door handles, startlingly comprehensive handbag collections and stubbing your toe or upending yourself on a crayon or wooden mushroom when you _least_ expect it. You'll be surprised at how utterly forgivable your own offspring are.
Enjoy guys. Mail us some photos of the little lady (I'm good for brooding self portraits of daddy thanks) and congratulations again.

Beck Hansen's Record Club
The Record Club do Velvet Underground & Nico 'Sunday Morning'
"For those new to the Record Club, it is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. An album is chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track is put up here once a week. As you will hear, some of the songs are rough renditions, often first takes documenting what happened over the course of a day. There is no intention to 'add to' the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens. And those who aren't familiar with the albums in question will hopefully look for the songs in their definitive versions."

Music For The Mood We're In
I love it when a band can still produce when given the most modest of tools.
S They Called Her
She's gonna hate us using that spelling when she moves to America..... Not a whole lot I can add to these pictures except to say we're all delighted beyond belief with the new shape of our family. I've been listening constantly, starry eyed, to that song linked in the last post. It doesn't get much better than this :)

D feels the immediate need to up her game....
I WISH AYEE WAAAAS, IN CARRICKFERGUS!
D feels the immediate need to up her game....
She asked me this morning did I know what a melodica was and mentioned that she'd seen a notice in Eurospar about tap lessons in Nurney. She needn't worry though. The new baby has a lot to live up to in her big sister.
I'm thoroughly enjoying hanging out with D while mammy's away for a few days. As are my parents and family aswell as Áine (thanks to all for your massive assistance over the past 48 hours). Expect more baby photos. With 2... I mean 3 stunners around the place, those gig posters are going to have to wait. Over.
Edit : The translation for that Sigur Ros song from Icelandic to English is apparently :
Hopping Into Puddles
Smiling - Spinning 'round and 'round
Holding hands - The whole world a blur -
But you are standing - Soaked - Completely drenched - No rubber boots -
Running in us - Want to erupt from a shell - Wind in - And outdoor smell of your hair
I hit as fast as I could
With my nose
Hopping into puddles
Completely drenched
Soaked
With no boots on
And I get nosebleed
But I always get up
Bring on them puddles :)

It's A Girl Too
3:35pm today we had another beautiful baby girl.
mother and baby doing absolutely fine. daddy and D are frazzled :)
the weight is still a mystery (long story) but the baba is perfect and
M has proven yet again what a powerful bit of stuff she is.
Edit: 7lbs 13oz was the official weight after a steward's enquiry. Linda - i have no idea about the length - I didn't ask :)
no name as yet (what do we think of hoppípolla??). Gigunnagap is also on the shortlist. we'll keep you all posted.
thanks to all for your kind wishes over the past 24 hours.
